The eagerly anticipated work on-site at Staunton Estate has recently commenced. The first stage includes 27 new blocks, supporting a range of dwelling types including standard homes, villas, townhouses and semi-detached dwellings. The development is a first for Wagga Wagga as it is the creation of medium-density Torrens title allotments with sizes ranging from 189sqm to 434sqm. Each block will have access to an asphalted public roadway, unlike many other medium-density developments which rely on private internal roadways.
Our contractors Turners Excavations are progressing the on-site works quickly, having recently felled around 30 gum trees along the Spring Street frontage. The demolition of some of the abandoned structures has occurred and the extensive earthworks have also commenced.
One of the interesting facets of the development is how incredibly flat the site is and the engineering challenges this presents – it is perfect for a sporting field, but very tough to design sewer mains infrastructure to service! Stage 1 of the development incorporates sewer mains that are approximately 3-4 metres below natural ground level so that the sewer mains for future stages of the development can achieve adequate fall. The mains alone are quite a feat to construction due to the benching that is required for the trenches.
